Me Time

As part of the 10-day challenge I’m in and just in my life right now I need to set goals, short and long term.  Well, I have decided one of my goals HAS to be setting time aside for me and only me.  I think this makes me a better person when I have had this time to reflect on things in my life without the many distractions of the day.  So the goal I am setting for myself is to wake up at 5am every morning for the next 7 days.  This gives me a full two hours before most everyone else in my family is awake.

Now, I am definitely not a morning person.  I tend to sleep as late as I possibly can, but that’s usually because I’m not in bed until nearly midnight every night.  I HAVE to have 8 hours of sleep nearly every night or I get cranky.  I’ve always been this way.  So my other goal has to be to get in bed by 9pm.  I think this will prove to be the more difficult part.

This morning was my first 5am wake-up.  I didn’t go to bed when I should have so this was already difficult; however, when my alarm went off I remembered how important my me time is and pushed myself.  I managed to get in a long, quiet shower.  I say quiet because usually my shower consists of kids coming in my bathroom every minute or so to tattle on their brother or sister or to let me know they are hungry or thirsty.  It was nice not to have to deal with that this time.  I also had my coffee and breakfast in peace at 6am.  Do you know how rare this is?!  I know these ones seem silly, but I also managed to pluck my eyebrows which were in desperate need of attention and moisturized my feet.  Most busy moms would certainly agree you just NEED time to do these things.

Setting goals is incredibly important and visibly posting them can be just as important.  I have  mine posted on my bathroom mirror so I can see them every morning when I wake up.  It helps remind me what I need to do to better myself each day.

10-Day Challenge

I started an awesome 10-day challenge yesterday and am loving it so far.  It is a group of about 40 women all doing meal & fitness planning for 10 days.  We took measurements (weight and waist) yesterday morning.  I can’t wait to see everyone’s results by the end of the challenge!

I am doing really well with the meals, but not so good with the workouts.  I love scheduling my meals and do very well with sticking to it, but can’t seem to get motivated to exercise.  😦  It’s only day two so I’m hoping I will get in the swing of it.

Wish me luck!  I will keep you all posted.  🙂
